Sanding of rail vehicles

We are a Czech manufacturer of central lubrication systems, lubrication technology, hydraulics and special systems for rail transport.

For rail transport we produce:
  • sanding systems
  • wheel flange lubrication equipment
  • top of rail lubrication equipment
  • stationary lubricators for rail curves and rail head.

We have been designing, manufacturing and developing sanding equipment for rail vehicles since 1998. Rail vehicle sanding systems together with flange lubrication (WFL) and top of rail lubrication (TOR) form a decisive part of the production programme of systems for transport technology.

 The KOVA-03D sanding system offers an efficient solution for traction vehicles. It is based on the philosophy of separate and fully independent sanders for each wheel. This allows a high variability of the system and at the same time ensures its high reliability. Care for the environment and the use of the optimum amount of sanding is an important factor in the design of a particular device.

 The system is available with pressurized or vacuum dosing units, for a wide range of working pressures and sand grain sizes. The product is characterised by its versatility for fitting into single vehicle bodies, reliability, long service life and mechanical durability.

The advantages of the KOVA-03D can be summarized in the following points:
  • simple modular design and system installation,
  • simple way of adjusting the sand quantity in accordance with TSI for different sand types and grain sizes,
  • direct and easy access for maintenance to all parts of the plant,
  • high resistance to mechanical damage to the dosing equipment due to the location of the dosing block in the protective housing,
  • high reliability due to the independence of the individual sanders, which increases the safety of the driving vehicles,
  • adjustment of the sand dosage for each wheel separately.

Electrically heated discharge tubes are an important part of the KOVA system. These are mechanically highly resistant, mounted in special brackets that allow easy position adjustment in three axes. This allows the tube to be easily adjusted to the wheel to ensure targeted and efficient sand guidance into contact with the wheel and rail.

 A heated dispenser with continuous blowing of the sandboxes is standard.

 A characteristic feature of the equipment is full control of the sand transport under the wheels of the driving vehicles, which directly affects the safety and reliability of railway operation. The control of sand transport under each individual wheel is solved by using an electronic sensor. The advantage is the early signalling of a sand flow fault, with an error signal being issued immediately at the first disturbance in the system, i.e. directly when sanding is in progress.
